Between signal and storm

Marius L. Jensen is the artistic pseudonym of a Swiss painter born in Lausanne in 1984 and raised in French-speaking Switzerland. He began painting at eight and completed his art studies within the Swiss Maturity program with a perfect score.

Jensen's paintings operate between abstraction and figuration, pairing expressive movement with a strong architectural instinct.

1984 Born in Lausanne

His canvases reward distance and proximity in different ways: instinctive and immediate from afar, increasingly intricate when viewed closely.

Figures, botanical forms, and familiar silhouettes often surface only partially, leaving room for the viewer to complete the image.

Working primarily at night, Jensen builds energetic yet controlled paintings that hold raw movement inside an exacting visual order.

In rooms

Installed views show how the paintings hold a wall beyond the studio image: generous in scale, grounded by furniture, and alive in domestic light.

Raw movement, carefully constructed.

Jensen describes his approach as composed turbulence: dense compositions in which spontaneous marks, fragmented forms, textures, and subtle details gradually reveal an underlying balance.

The paintings occupy a distinctive territory between abstracted figuration, movement, and visual order. They appear direct at first, then begin to disclose partial figures, vegetal shapes, and familiar silhouettes through repeated looking.
